WHO WE ARE

DOCTORS FOR RIGHT TO HEALTH (formerly HEALTHpage , GHANA ) is a non-profit, non-governmental health and human rights organization that works to increase access to sustainable health solutions and systems for poor and vulnerable communities in Ghana while promoting human rights. DRH mobilizes Ghanaian doctors, nurses and other professionals as volunteers to promote the right to health and social justice for all, and empower poor and vulnerable communities to overcome preventable diseases and conditions.

We develop and implement innovative and sustainable solutions to improve the health of communities at risk of maternal and child mortality, malnutrition, infectious diseases (HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria) and emerging epidemics such as hypertension, diabetes and tobacco-related diseases.

DRH draws its mandate from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR), the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (ICESCR), the African Charter on Human and Peoples' Rights and other principal international treaties. We believe that there must be affordable, equitable and accessible quality health care to all as a basic human right .

The organization was founded in January 2006, under the name HEALTHpage , GHANA , to provide health services to deprived communities. Three (3) years after operation, we saw the need to harness the skills, commitment and passion of doctors, nurses and other professionals to promote the right to health and social justice for all. DRH is registered under the Companies Code, 1963, Act (179) of the Republic of Ghana , and duly recognized by the Department of Social Welfare. The organization is a member of Ghana Coalition of NGOs in Health.

DRH mobilizes health and non-health professionals as volunteers to promote the right to health for all, and strengthen the capacity of poor and vulnerable communities to overcome preventable diseases and conditions.
